2015-2020 F55 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Hardtop 4-Door
2016-2021 F57 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Convertible
2016-2020 F54 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Clubman
2017-2022 F60 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Countryman

Get this oil filter as part of an Oil Change Kit and save money!

Many feel the factory interval is too long and they change their oil and filter once if not twice between the recommended interval.

We recommend you change the engine oil more frequently than the factory recommendation. Anecdotal evidence suggest Turbochargers on the 2nd generation MINIs seemed to have more trouble-free miles when the oil is changed more frequently and we suspect the same will hold true for the 3rd generation F model MINIs. We recommend you change your oil every 5,000 mile or less.

MINI recommends:

  • Regularly check the engine oil leve after refueling
  • FULL SYNTHETIC motor oil with API SL or superior grade specification
  • BMW longlife-01 or BMW Longlife-01 FE+
  • Viscosity Grades SAE 0W-20, 5W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30, 0W-40 and 5W-40
  • NO oil additives

Dispose of the used oil and filter properly, please! And wipe that oil off the driveway before you track it into the house!

If you are performing the oil change, you will need the following tools:

  • This 32mm socket for the oil filter housing
  • A 13mm socket for the oil filter housing drain plug
  • A 17mm socket for the engine oil drain plug
  • An a ratchet, extension, and maybe a universal joint

Torque values:

  • Oil Filter Housing 25Nm or 18.4 ft-lbs
  • Filter Housing Oil Drain Plug  5NM or 3.7 ft-lbs or 44.5 INCH-lbs
  • Oil Pan Drain Plug 20Nm or 14.8 ft-lbs

Change oil more often!
Here is a comment sent to us by Mr. Peter J. on 03/14/2016: PLEASE LISTERN ITS IMPORTANT . YOU MUST CHANGE YOU ENGINE OIL I DO MINE EVERY 5 MONTHS DO NOT LISTERN TO BMW about oil changes in a new engine the oil should be changed at 500 miles the engine has to ware in there will be small metal fragments in your new engine even with the filter contain ing a magnet there are going to be some metal fragments left in the engine get it changed .please think about it carefully and then change your oil at least every 10 months me I do it 5 months . Yes I know what your are going to say the cost . But what is the cost of a repair on a engine to the cost of having regular oil changes to the price of a major repair to you engine . because that's what will happen . no matter how good the oil is can it desolve metal fragment in you engine no.. And what happens when metal Mets metal in a moving parts . when you buy one of the cars you look after it with regular oil changes and the car will look after you .and always use the recommended oil that they say to use fully synthetic. Please do not I repeat do not us semi synthetic or any other oil ...only fully synthetic. And check the correct make of oil with the oil code on the rear of the bottle that matches the oil number and letters in you service book .. I do not know were these manufacturer get this information from about oil but I think it something to do with after three years then that when things in the engine start going bad very bad then you have to start spending loads of cash on parts for the car to get it fixed . Yes again I know what your going to say .Then can take it to another garage not a main dealer .yes if coures they can but say 25 percent do not that's a lot of money . and say 45 percent want to have original mini parts fitted then that's even more money for BMW .. So in the end it's up to you do you want you pride and joy to be ruined by a little thing like a simple oil and filter change . you paid a lot of money for your pride and joy so why not pay for a oil filter
