Description

Full Synthetic SAE 5W-30 BMW Longlife Engine Oil from MINI!

"The engine oil for the MINI typical Go-Kart feeling.  Developed for and tested exclusively by MINI."

This is the same factory oil used at the MINI dealerships. If you want to stay with the factory motor oil, this is it! It's also good to keep an extra quart in case you need to top off your oil. SAE 5W-30 - Sold each - 1 Liter Bottles.

MINI/BMW Full Synthetic Motor Oil, for use in all MINI cars with gasoline engines, is a 100% synthetic formula for premium lubrication and superior performance even under extreme low or high temperature conditions. It offers superior performance over conventional motor oils.

  • Greater high temperature protection
  • Easy cold weather starts
  • Enhanced wear and deposit protection
  • Ideal for luxury vehicles, high performance vehicles, turbo engines
  • Meets all requirement of ACEA A3/B3 for Maximum gasoline and diesel passenver car protection

Meets ACEA A3/B4, API SL
BMW Longlife-01
For Gasoline / Diesel engines without DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)

If you own the Cooper S model with the Turbocharged engine, we STRONGLY recommend you change the motor oil more frequently than the factory recommendation. Anecdotal evidence suggests Turbo's with more frequent oil changes have fewer issues. We suggest 5000 mile oil change interval or less. Make sure you use FULL SYNTHETIC motor oil with the ACEA (Association des Constructeurs Europeens d'Automobiles) A3/B3 specification.

Oil Capacity is 4.5 Quarts (4.3 Ltr) for the following models:

2002-2006 R50/53 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Hardtop

Oil Capacity is 5.28 Quarts (5.0 ltr) for the following models:

2014+ F56 MINI Cooper S Hardtop
2015+ F55 MINI Cooper S Hardtop 4-Door

For Gen 1 (R50/52/53), the Factory recommends FULL SYNTHETIC SAE grades 5W-30 and 5W-40, API SM.

For the Gen 2 (R55/56/57/58/59) MINI Models, 2011-current R60/61 Countryman and Paceman Models, approved oils are FULL SYNTHETIC SAE 0W-40, 0W-30, 5W-40, 5W-30. API SM or higher, ACEA A3/B4.

For Gen 3 (F56/F55) models, factory recommends FULL SYNTHETIC SAE 0W-40, SAE 0W-30, SAE 5W-40, and SAE 5W-30. Approved oil types include BMW Longlife-01 and BMW Longlife-01 FE, API SM or superior grade specification.

For Gen 1 (R50/52/53) models - tighten the drain plug and the oil filter cannister to 25 Nm (18 ft-lb). To reset the oil change interval in your MINI, see oil service reset.

For Gen 2 (R55/56/57/60) models - torque oil filter cannister to 25Nm or 18 lb-ft, and drain plug to 30Nm or 22 lb-ft. Drain plug can be 8mm Allen or T-50 Torx. To reset the oil change interval in your MINI, see oil service reset. (If your MINI is still under the free factory maintenance program, don't reset the interval.)

Start the engine and check for oil pressure. Don't forget to check for leaks too!

For additional protection, take a look at our Magnetic Oil Drain Plug for Gen 1 and Gen 2 models.

It helps if you 'loosen' the oil filter cannister while you drain the oil to allow the oil to drain out of the filter. You will spill less oil this way.

Before you press the filter into the cannister cover, press it into the filter base 'all the way' and remove to prep the filter for proper seating. Now you can press filter into the cannister cover and install.

Remember to use the new O-ring on the cannister cover - LIBERALLY coat the new o-ring with clean oil so it doesn't bind. Start the cannister cover by hand to avoid cross-threading.

Don't pollute. Conserve resources. Return used oil to collection centers.

Motor Oils - It Is So Very Misunderstood
Created: August 23, 2011
I think it is time to go over passenger car automotive engine oils in detail. I will be writing several articles to be published soon so I will try to get some of it out here. I feel this is a very general topic for all car owners on this board.

Change oil more often!
By:
Here is a comment sent to us by Mr. Peter J. on 03/14/2016: PLEASE LISTEN ITS IMPORTANT . YOU MUST CHANGE YOU ENGINE OIL I DO MINE EVERY 5 MONTHS DO NOT LISTERN TO BMW about oil changes in a new engine the oil should be changed at 500 miles the engine has to ware in there will be small metal fragments in your new engine even with the filter contain ing a magnet there are going to be some metal fragments left in the engine get it changed .please think about it carefully and then change your oil at least every 10 months me I do it 5 months . Yes I know what your are going to say the cost . But what is the cost of a repair on a engine to the cost of having regular oil changes to the price of a major repair to you engine . because that's what will happen . no matter how good the oil is can it desolve metal fragment in you engine no.. And what happens when metal Mets metal in a moving parts . when you buy one of the cars you look after it with regular oil changes and the car will look after you .and always use the recommended oil that they say to use fully synthetic. Please do not I repeat do not us semi synthetic or any other oil ...only fully synthetic. And check the correct make of oil with the oil code on the rear of the bottle that matches the oil number and letters in you service book .. I do not know were these manufacturer get this information from about oil but I think it something to do with after three years then that when things in the engine start going bad very bad then you have to start spending loads of cash on parts for the car to get it fixed . Yes again I know what your going to say .Then can take it to another garage not a main dealer .yes if coures they can but say 25 percent do not that's a lot of money . and say 45 percent want to have original mini parts fitted then that's even more money for BMW .. So in the end it's up to you do you want you pride and joy to be ruined by a little thing like a simple oil and filter change . you paid a lot of money for your pride and joy so why not pay for a oil filter
