The 25th and 30 shouldn't actually be included on the list.

Thanks Dela217, I'd forgotten about the advantage! Also, I've just seen a dark blue 93 Tahiti "Project" shell on ebay uk. It had a cool sticker of a dark orange sunset with some sort of tropical tree (Palm?) and the tahiti script. And another, the Mary Quant special edition known as Designer. Available in both white and black. Had a special black and white striped interior with a special red highlight and the Quant flower.

On the colours, I can only add the: Tahiti Edition? - Tahiti Blue

and the previously listed Racing Green and Flame Red

My SWAG is that the specials were strictly a simple marketing effort to garner interest in the Mini. (showroom traffic) Most specials appear to be paint, interior, badging and stickers, so that would keep the costs at a minimum. (And maybe even use up paint colors from other Rover Lines. ) On the interior cloth, Wow, I sure don't know!

There were minis with limited colors, are you counting those?

Do you know why Rover made the many limited editions?

I've been reading about the 1990's Rover Factory Mini Limited Edition models, and couldn't find a list here on MM. There may also be references to other special edition cars from the 80's. So, I'm starting this one:

Sprite

Rio

City

City E

Mayfair

Tahiti

Advantage

Checkmate

Studio

Cooper

RSP - Rover Special Products 'Cooper'

Cooper Monte Carlo

John Cooper 35

Cooper Sport

Cooper Sport 500

Blue Star Possibly German market only car? It was a Dark Blue Cooper

Monza, possibly German Market only Cooper spec car. Seen live in a very dark blue

Flame Red

Racing Green

Jet Black

Rose Pink accents with a flower against White body color

Sky Light "Sky Blue" accents against White body color

Neon

Equinox Amaranth Purple in color

Sidewalk Seen with interior that is Blue base and Red plaid - seen on a car painted Blue

Tartan The sidewalk style of plaid was available in the JDM as Tartan, and looks like both a Red / Green and a Green / Red version was available, many were red metallic and the most common color was the dark BRG metallic

Balmoral - In R.O.W., and for sure Italy, the Balmoral's version of Sidewalk interior was base color Green with Red accents - seen on a car painted dark BRG metallic

Chelsey

Kensington An MM member has a JDM Blue with Beige Leather

Picadilly

Knightsbridge I saw a Gold colored one once, and it had a beautiful beige / camel leather interior

Equinox A 1995 Amaranth Purple had black fabric with Purple "Round sunburst / starburst " in various diameters

Designer / Mary Quant Edition Celebrating Mary Quant, a clothing designer, these White and Black cars have a black and white striped interior cloth with a red stripe. Quant was reportedly the creator of the Mini Skirt.

Paul Smith Edition Mostly thought to be the classic Paul Smith Blue with a very high level of specification - Likened to the Cooper - there were apparently also Paul Smith Editions in White and Black for the JDM

Special Specific Copper Paint with Beige Vinyl topping applied to roof, Silver with Black Vinyl, and Metallic Blue with Black Vinyl. With an 1100 cc engine and a different interior, these may have been one of the earliest examples of Limited Editions. May have been early examples to have 8.4" discs, 12 inch wheels, and "City Flares" - possibly 1984 on.

British Open Classic Dark BRG metallic with special beige "leather and tweed interior with British Open seat flags". Also seen as black car with same interior in the German market. All came with the namesake folding vinyl sunroof.

25th

30th

35th

40th Seen in Silver with Red Leather and Mulberry Red with Red Leather. Has a special round gold trimmed bonnet badge

Italian Job

ERA Turbo

Cabriolet LAMM - all in dark cherry red with a Lamm built special body kit

Rover Cabriolet BRG metallic, Nightfire Red metallic, and Caribbean Blue Metallic. Possibly only 350 - 450 total production, Rover's body kit produced by Zender

Since different countries / markets would sometimes have the same basic Limited Edition cars have another name, please feel free to add yours!

Thanks! Best, MSH
