I'm located east coast Va. I have five classic minis on jack stands in the shop. All are getting new power and trannys. Two AC/auto to std shift one with one without the AC. Another is getting a 1400 cc 1275 GT engine and very trick tranny. The one that may interest you is a mid 80s 998 Mayfair. Due to family health issues it is being completely rebuilt and offered for sale. Work completed to date, engine rebuilt std./std./std.. Block cleaned, honed, cam bearings and brass freeze plugs, decked for C/R desired. Cyl head got valve job, new valve guides, hard valve seats, new intake and exhaust valves ( late unleaded ) springs, rocker shaft, caps, keepers and resurfaced. New camshaft, lifters, timing gears and Iwis chain with tensioner, oil pump. The DAM 5626 late A+ tranny got it all. New main shaft, lay shaft, shift forks, synchros and all bearing. Upgraded diff. kit, and 3.2 CWP with a center oil pick up. The flywheel and back plate were ground and a new pressure plate, clutch disc and throw out bearing. Clutch master, hose, slave and linkage. Moving along the front sub frame was removed powder coated and got new adjustable suspension tie and lower arms. Upper arms rebuilt, hubs got new ball joints, wheel bearings. The inner and outer CVs were serviced with new grease and boots a couple replaced due to wear. New 8.4 disc with new stainless steel pistons and kits in calipers. Rear swing arms checked and cleaned. Backing plates glass beaded and painted with new wheel cyls. adjusters, shoes and springs with new spaced brake drums. New rubber springs, Hi Los, and stainless brake hoses all around. It comes with after market 5/12 alloy wheels and I'm ordering 165/12 Yokos. I have placed it back on the ground set ride height, adjusted suspension, bled brakes and will rerun all the numbers once new tires are installed. I have a head lamp switch and ignition switch to install as well as a new battery. The power unit was run in on my engine test stand. The plan was to have some body work and the interior done. My contact info is in my profile. If you want more info get in touch. This car will drive and handle as good as any street mini. It was giving just under 50 mpg and would run 70 mph all day long before rebuild. Rebuild due to low cyl. compression on one cyl. Steve (CTR)
PS, the large gas tank was removed and cleaned, a new fuel sending unit is on the way.

Hi, JP,
Well, I am in Southport, not too far away. But, my only classic Mini is a Moke, which is a sort of rare variant. Just getting it sorted for the road now - maybe in a few weeks, but it really wouldn't give you a good idea of what a "regular" Mini sedan is like.

Hi- I'm a wanna be owner of a classic mini. However, I have yet to ride in or drive one. I am in the Beaufort area of NC and wondered if anyone fairly local would be willing to show off their car? I'll buy lunch! Thanks all!
