BMW Factory Tool # 21 5 030. Clutch Slave Cylinder compression tool for use when bleeding and flushing the clutch hydraulic system.

As part of the clutch system flush procedure, it is necessary to fully compress the clutch slave cylinder prior to flushing the clutch hydraulic system.

A soft or spongy feel to the clutch pedal, long pedal free-play, or grinding noises from the gears while shifting can all indicate problems with the clutch hydraulics. In these circumstances it is best to start with a clutch fluid flush, followed if necessary by replacement of hydraulic parts.

Fits:
2002-2006 R50 MINI Cooper and R53 Cooper S Hatchback
2005-2008 R52 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Convertible

Question:
Can you share the step-by-step to removing-installing-bleeding the clutch input cylinder under the dash on a 2007 MiniCooper S Manual Trans?
Answer:
Sorry, we don't have instructions in a form that can be easily shared. We use the Bentley service manual a lot.
Looking at the instructions, the removal of the master and slave is very straightforward, undo the mounting hardware and disconnect the hydraulic lines.
When bleeding, the slave needs to be bled in the fully compressed position (using a special tool - or something similar), and then again after the slave is mounted onto the transmission.

The clutch operates using brake fluid. It draws off the brake fluid reservoir via a black tube on the side. Fluid flows from the reservoir into the cylinder above the clutch pedal (when there is a negative pressure). Then when the pedal is pushed the pedal cylinder pushes fluid through the tube into the clutch slave cylinder which activates the clutch.
