RACEWARE Engineering L.L.C. offers the legendary RACEWARE engine Head Stud Kit to prevent head gasket leaks and serious engine damage that often occurs with original equipment fasteners used for hi-performance or racing applications. RACEWARE Head Stud Kits are a direct replacement for the OEM stretch bolts.

BMW recommends replacing head bolts every time the cylinder head is removed. With this Stud kit you replace the bolts only once.

NOTES for Raceware Head Studs:

Using regular petroleum engine oil to lube the threads, tighten the nuts in three steps, i.e. 15 –30-42 ft/lbs., with a final torque of 42 ft/lbs. Run the engine to full operating temp, allow to cool back to room temp, then re-torque to 42 ft/lbs. as all head gaskets yield after they have been thermally cycled. Do not over-torque or you will strip the threads or stretch the stud.

This torque spec only applies to the genuine RACEWARE HSK as we use a special thread pitch and anti-friction coating on the 12 point head nut.
