If you switched from any run-flat tires to the standard tires, here is the Compact Emergency spare for your R60 Countryman and R61 Paceman. Remember, this is a 'temporary' spare tire to get you directly home or directly to the nearest tire repair center. For safety's sake, get your flat fixed and back on your car AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Yes, you can find the wheel from a dealer, tire from a tire shop and get it mounted and balanced - but why bother, we did all the work for you! Mounted, balanced, and ready-to-use.

The 205/55/17 tires on 7Jx17 wheels are the standard offering from MINI. Factory options include 225/45/18 tires on 7.5Jx18 wheels and the JCW 225/40/19 on 7.5Jx19 wheels. This Compact Spare is compatible with any of these optional tire set-ups.

Fits the following:

  • 2011-2016 R60 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Countryman (including ALL4)
  • 2013-2016 R61 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Paceman (including ALL4)

Lead time required, allow at least two weeks for delivery.

NOTES:

  • This spare setup will not clear the JCW brakes, front or rear...
  • This spare needs to go on the rear. If you have a flat in the front, move a good tire from the rear and mount the spare on the rear.
  • This Spare Tire uses a lower cost tire, brand may vary depending on availability
    • For the Spare with Continental Tire (made in Germany), see G2NMW7610
  • Sorry, this Compact Spare will NOT fit in the compartment under the rear floor
  • For a Kit that includes a custom carrying / storage bag with this spare tire, see G2NMW7610-P

Recommendations:

  • Recommended 'cold' inflation pressure: 60psi
  • Lug Bolts torque for 2011+ Countryman and 2013+ Paceman: 103.3 ft lbs
  • Tighten the lug bolts in a criss-cross pattern
  • Have the wheel bolts checked as soon as possible using a calibrated torque wrench to ensure that the lug bolts are firmly seated, otherwise a serious accident could result if a wheel comes loose

Specifications:

  • Wheel Size: 4.0J x 17 ET 18
  • Tire Size: 135/80
  • Sidewall Height: 4.25"
  • Section Width: 5.31"
  • Overall Diameter: 25.50"
  • Circumference: 80.12"
  • Revs per mile: 790.78
  • Weight: Approx. 29 lbs

Actual dimensions may vary slightly depending on the brand of tire. Compared to the stock 205/55/17 tire, this spare is only 0.38" shorter in diameter and 1.18" less in circumference - about as close as you can get to the original size.

Fits fine in the trunk laying down:

Driving with the Space-Saver Tire:

  • This spare will trigger a 'flat tire' warning light since it does not have the TPMS sensor
  • Drive cautiously. Do not exceed a speed of 50mph/80kph
  • You must expect changes in vehicle handling such as lower track stability during braking, longer braking distances and changes in self-steering properties when close to the handling limit. These effects are more pronounced when driving with winter tires.
  • Only ONE space-saver tire may be mounted at one time. Reinstall a wheel and tire of the original size as soon as possible.
  • Check the tire inflation pressure at the earliest opportunity and correct it if necessary. Replace the defective tire as soon as possible and have the new wheel/tire assembly balanced.

ALL4 Information

For a better understanding of your ALL4 all-wheel-drive system, here is a brief description:
The ALL4 system can split power 50/50 between the front and rear wheels. It can also put 100% of power to the front wheels. In the case of no traction to the front wheels, it can send all of its available power to the rear wheels, but this is still only 50% of the car’s total power.
The system is based on an electromagnetic centre differential and distributes drive force at continuously variable levels between the front and rear axle. In normal situations on the road, up to 50 per cent of the drive torque is directed to the rear axle – in extreme situations such as when driving on ice or snow this figure can go up to 100 per cent.

There are two key points to take away from the above. First, the power distribution front-to-rear is now being described as “continuously variable” rather than FWD first, as it was originally described by MINI USA. This terminology seems much more inline with our information from the Countryman event in Austria last year. It’s unclear if the system is still defaulting to 50/50 from the gate, but one thing is beyond dispute: the All4 system is putting power to all four wheels at all times.

The second key point from the BMW press release has to do with front-to-back power distribution. For the first time, the MINI All4 system is being described with 100% of available power being diverted to the rear wheels in extreme traction situations. Our most recent information had 100% of power available to the front, but only 50% available to the rear.

The All4 system is not described as a performance-oriented system intended to go toe-to-toe with the Subaru WRX STi on dry pavement. Instead, MINI says it’s designed to work hand-in-hand with the traction control system to give the best possible traction on slippery surfaces

Question:
I have an F60 2017 MINI Cooper Countryman. I've ditched the awful run-flats and bought normal tires. I'm looking for a complete spare tire kit: wheel, tire, jack, tools, and all the foam bits to install it securely *under the trunk floor* where there is room for a mini spare. Do you have that full kit?
Answer:
The Countryman uses a different hold-down or tool kit depending on it's production date, you can check out the options here:  and if you're not sure what your MINI's production date is you can give us your VIN so we can check for you. The correct spare wheel with tire is part number G3NMW7615 on the site.

Question:
Will this spare work on rear Mini Cooper R60 JCW all 4?
Answer:
Unfortunately no. The JCW has oversized rear rotors which move the calipers out and the caliper will interfere with the compact spare wheel.
You may be able to use a wheel spacer with longer bolts, but we have not tested this configuration.

Question:
I have (4) new runflat tires (Continental) on the car. My MINI countryman R60 has the John Cooper Works Logo on the door threshold. Does this John Cooper Works impact whether or not your spare tire is compatible with my car?
Answer:
It all depends on whether your Countryman has the big JCW brakes with the red calipers and JCW logo.
It appears you have the R60 Cooper Countryman with a couple of JCW accessories added.
The G2NMW7611 is the correct spare tire kit for your Countryman.
