This Spring Set manufactured in Germany, is designed for the performance minded street driver who may want to take his or her MINI Cooper or MINI Cooper S to the track from time to time. These springs lower ride height approximately 1.0"-1.2", providing improved handling while retaining excellent ride quality.

This means better appearance with maximum driving comfort in normal operation and sporty, progressive tuning on the track.

Designed and Manufactured by Vogtland in Germany, each spring is precisely measured to insure uniformity and performance. Springs are produced using special oil tempered spring steels of high tensile strength chrome-silicon and chrome-silicon-vanadium alloys using the cold coiling process. This achieves low spring weight with high material strength and the desired effect of uniformly reducing the un-sprung weight of the MINI optimizing ride handling characteristics.

NOTE: Lowering springs will add negative camber to the rear. For best results, you should add adjustable rear control arms to correct the rear camber after lowering your car. If you choose not to correct the rear camber, your rear tires will wear unevenly and require early replacement. The front camber is not affected. Install the rear adjustable control arms and have the alignment corrected.

Question:
I have a 2013 MINI Cooper S convertible R57, and am looking at lowering my MINI a bit. I am not looking for anything too expensive or extravagant. I would like to keep the ride as close to stock ride as possible, and have components that work well together. What is a good, cost effective combination you would recommend? Are there shocks that are built for lowered springs, to give similar travel? Shocks that are optimized for a given spring?
Answer:
The lowering spring is a performance upgrade and as such, it will be stiffer than stock and have an adverse effect on ride quality. We are not aware of any lowering spring that will keep the ride quality close to stock (although this is a very subjective description). The lowering spring shortens the suspension travel and has to be stiffer to maintain proper function.
Also know that when you lower the car with lowering springs, you should install adjustable rear control arms to correct the excess negative rear camber. Otherwise, the rear tires will wear on the inside edge much faster than the front tires.
The only products we offer that include matched lowering spring and shocks are coilovers - but these tend to be even more aggressive in terms of stiffness.
