Stage 2 PLUS Performance Clutch Upgrade kit! Features a multi-friction disc in a full faced configuration with carbon semi-metallic on one side and Kevlar on the other. Bridging the gap between stage 2 and stage 3, the 2+ offers drivability and engagement quality characteristic of the stage 2, but with a 15-20% higher torque capacity. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability. Great for street, drag, autocross, road racing, pulling, rallye and drift.

Fits the following Cooper S models with the N14 engine:

2007-2010 R56 MINI Cooper S Hardtop
2008-2010 R55 MINI Cooper S Clubman
2009-2010 R57 MINI Cooper S Convertible

The kit includes a 'Sprung' hub Clutch Disk for use with SPEC Clutch solid single mass flywheel. (Not compatible with Dual Mass Flywheels).

These Clutch Kits are available with sprung or unsprung (solid hub) clutch disks. Select the Clutch Kit with the unsprung (solid hub) clutch disk if you have the factory Dual Mass Flywheel. Select the sprung clutch disc only when used with the SPEC Clutch solid single mass flywheel. (Not compatible with Dual Mass Flywheels).

Stage 2 PLUS Performance Clutch Kit for the MINI is a perfect upgrade for all modified engines making more torque than the stage 2 can support. Maintains stage 2 feel for good daily drivability and offers very good wear characteristics, but provides a higher torque capacity. For Street, Drag, Road Race, Rallye, Pulling, Autocross.

Features high clamp pressure plate, composite multi-friction carbon-kevlar material, high torque rigid hub disc assembly, and bearing.

Spec High Clamp Load Pressure Plates are standard with all performance kits. These plates can feature higher clamp loads than original equipment and have a very reasonable pedal requirement. The exclusive 360 degree pivot technology assures a perfectly even lift and disc clamp, maximized leverage, more consistent clamp load and minimized wear.

NOTES:

INSTALL NOTES

Unless using a new flywheel provided by SPEC, existing unit must be resurfaced prior to installation of the clutch product to ensure integrity of friction surface. Owner must also break in the new high performance clutch for a minimum of 450 miles, primarily city and/or stop-and-go driving, before full throttle engagement, drag launching or speed shifting. * FAILURE TO EXECUTE EACH OF THE ABOVE WILL HINDER CLUTCH PERFORMANCE AND VOID ALL WARRANTY!!!

Unless otherwise instructed by written notice from SPEC, follow manufacturer’s instructions when installing clutch and flywheel products. SPEC recommends that all bolts be inspected before re-installation, and any bolts that have been removed and re-torqued multiple times replaced. SPEC will not warrant any component failure due to install error.

LIMITED WARRANTY

S.P.E.C., Inc warrants all products to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for normal use and service up to 120 days after retail purchase. SPEC reserves the right to examine any part returned for warranty claim to determine whether a defect in materials or workmanship exists in such product. SPEC liability is limited to repairing, replacing or crediting towards other product, and credits will not exceed the invoice total for the parts. Labor and storage charges are not products of SPEC and, therefore, will not be reimbursed for any reason. Final determination of the condition and suitability of the parts for uses contemplated by the buyer is a sole responsibility of the buyer. SPEC will not be liable for any damage or injury to persons or property that might be claimed as a result of improper installation or misuse of any part subject to this warranty. There are no warranties expressed or implied beyond those set forth above.

The clutch operates using brake fluid. It draws off the brake fluid reservoir via a black tube on the side. Fluid flows from the reservoir into the cylinder above the clutch pedal (when there is a negative pressure). Then when the pedal is pushed the pedal cylinder pushes fluid through the tube into the clutch slave cylinder which activates the clutch.
