This oil line fixes the very common oil leak coming from the factory hard line. A 'must do' while-you're-at it upgrade every time you remove the bumper to access the turbo, replace water pump housing, or upgrading your intercooler.

Unaddressed turbo line leak can cause huge mess, starvation to turbo, and even fire when the oil drips onto the catalytic converter (hottest part on the entire car).

NM recommends replacing the Turbo Oil Return Line at the same time.

NOTE:

When servicing the Turbo on the MINI with some miles, it is very important (maybe even critical) that you replace the Turbo Supply line to avoid potential future turbo issues. Over time, the turbo and turbo supply line builds a fine layer of 'coked' or cooked oil on the internal surfaces. When you remove the supply line from the turbo, this disrupts the continuity of the coked layer with great potential of some of the coking to flake free and enter the turbo when the old supply line is re-installed. These coked oil particles can easily clog the fine journals that feed oil to the turbo bearings. Once the the oil flow is compromised, it is only a matter of time for cascading failures that can damage the turbo and catalytic converter!

When replacing the turbo, remember these important items:

  • Change the engine oil before and after the turbo installation
  • Replace the Oil Supply Line
  • Prime the turbo with fresh oil or turbo additive
