Question:
I am wanting to add a T piece between the oil sensor of my r56 n18 engine mini cooperS I have the T piece which has a 1/8 NPT male thread and 3 1/8 NPT female sockets I have taken out the oil sensor and was expecting to be able to screw the T piece in its place but the thread of the oil sensor is a different thread it’s a much more course thread, I have had to replace the sensor and put the car back together. I now need an adapter that has a male thread the same as the oil sensor with a female 1/8 NPT socket, I have no idea what size and type of thread the oil sensor uses can you tell me the correct type and size. Thank you.
Answer:
The only thing we can offer is this adapter:

Question:
hi.2007 mini with n12. swapped it out for an n16. a bit of sorting but down to the oil pressure sensor. using the n16 vacuum pump and thermohousing. no access to the oil pressure sensor location on the head. the n12 uses a one wire sensor. the n16 has a three wire sensor on the filter housing. can one of those three terminals be used for the one wire system? I've talked to almost a dozen mini dealers and no help. or is there a one wire sensor that will fit in the oil filter housing hole? many people told me an n12 to n16 could not be done. yes it can. just need to sort the oil pressure sensor! any insight? thanks a bunch, Scott
Answer:
Looking at the schematic in the Bentley manual - of the three wires from the n16 sensor, blue, black, and white - it appears the white wire is the main signal wire. However the schematic does not discern the function of the other blue and black wires so this is simply a wild guess with the limited information available. There may also be an issue with the signal levels - whether they are compatible or not.

Perhaps a mechanical thread adapter might be your best solution to use the old sensor on the new engine. Seems a machine shop with a milling machine should be able to whip one up.
