Sorry I didn't specify and now realize due to the follow up answers - I used aluminum blocks with machine screws. You can loosen and slide the whisker off or remove the screws and take off completely.

I need to go look at mine, they have been on almost 30 years (or more).  I don't really remember any more but I think I slid them on.  I may have hit them with my fist but doubt it as funds were tight back then and you have right and left to get them on.

Re the wood inserts: You could experiment with JBWeld to be drilled and accept very short self-tapping screws, then mold it into the moustache ends, mark locations and drill the JBWeld. But I do like the idea of an automotive grade adhesive tape as 62CooperS suggests.

I filled mine with Bondo and put them on with double sided foam tape. They've been on there over 10 years. I do like MGPHIL's idea though with the wooden blocks.

This a great idea also. I may slide the clips on and rivet on from inside the wheelwell.

I figured it was either slide them on somehow or the whack 'em on. Guess it's the whack approach then.

The clips are pop riveted to the body and the ends push onto the clips....... ie you place them over the clips and whack ‘em with your fist.

The trick is getting the moustache and the clips properly lined up first........

How are they installed after the clips are put on? Also what is the preferred location of the clips?
