What is your Mailing address?
I had 3 starters in the scrap pile.
Took a huge effort to try to compress the spring for the bendix but I gave up and cut the spring with the grinder.
Can Mail your way asap.

You could try going to an electric motor or generator repair shop - they might have a part that would work.

I have checked a couple of real hardware stores. lots of circlips but no luck with a round wire clip. It has to be an exact size. Once installed on the shaft it is retained by a form fitted washer.

I would think that you should be able to go by a real hardware store (not big box) and find some type of clip that should work.

I went to start my car and all I hear is the starter spinning. Removed the starter and found that the small steel clip that holds everything on the starter shaft has broken. Anyone have a spare clip? Hate to replace a perfectly good starter for a simple $1.00 part. Especially since it’s only 30 years old.
