Don’t know the radio you have, but generally Search will find the next available (meaning reasonable reception) station and stop there. Scan will find the next station, pause for a few seconds, then find the next station and so on. Typically once Scan lands on a station you like, tapping Scan again will stop it from moving on.

Sorry guys. It's just me I'm sure.

There are no knobs to turn, it has buttons marked "Scan" and "Search". That sounds like the same thing to this old timer.

I am trying to tune into a low power station from the other side of town. It plays songs from the '60's and '50's. I guess I'll have to get closer to the station itself and try again.

But I'll take a look.

Very basic old school car stereos:  If it has two knobs, one on each side of the cassette slot and station dial, most likely the left one is on/off + volume : off turned all the way to the left and increasing volume as turned to the right. . The right knob would adjust tuning. As they got more sophisticated, the knobs could be pushed in momentarily to switch the function of the knob. Maybe pressing the right knob might switch between AM and FM (an antenna needs to be connected or no signal). Maybe pressing the left knob would switch between volume control and bass/treble control. More options over time would include left/right balance, fader (front to back for 4-speaker units) and so on. As you press the knobs, look for changes in what is being displayed. You will soon figure it out. You may have to eject the cassette to switch to radio format.

In my Mini I have a more modern unit with a bunch of buttons that are just as complicated and too small to read, even when parked. I have a couple of stations preset and each spring I have to learn what to poke at, or just listen to the "Mini music". During the winter, I keep a battery tender going so I don't have to remove the battery and lose the programming. If that happens, I have to search for the manual.

You're going to have to get more specific. Do you have a picture of the radio? Some part numbers or serial numbers or something?

Can't find the manual for the radio. How do I manually change radio stations? It's a Phillips Audio radio with AM/FM and cassette.
