also learned that less-than-freight shipping has varying rates around the holidays. Supplier in the northeast told me it would save me a bunch if I can wait until February before ordering anything large, shipping rates go down in last week of January. I was looking for a used late model Corvair windshield, but an old thick one, not a recent made in South America thin one.

so I found an old V8 engine and a pile of parts for sale near Palm Springs, CA that I want to buy and have shipped to me in south Florida. This is not for one of my Minis but another projectmobile. But the seller is an older gentleman who has no engine lift, he isnt going to crate anything, he just wants someone to show up and pick it all up and take it away. I am flying blind on Google right now trying to find a mover or freight shipper that could do this, tried calling a few and I get answering machines and people who say they dont do that. If you know a moving/freight shipper near there that I should call, let me know thanks.
update ... found a shipper. One odd thing was the cost per pound. $2.50/lb if the load was over 500lb, 3.25/lb if less than 500lb.
