Thanks for weighing in Kent, I hope someone else may see this who will know.

I did look on the back of the factory radio I removed and on the back of the unit there is a single jack that matches this cable w. four prongs.  I also examined the two white cables again tonight and one is definitely not long enough to connect to the stereo unit.  I wonder if they might be dim-able power lines for stereo and dash illumination?  The other thought is that they might be related to the steering wheel stereo controls, but then why would there be two?  The steering wheel controls must be connected to the factory radio through the main modular connection.  I did purchase an accessory kit that allows me to use the steering wheel stereo controls with the new Kenwood radio, and that works... like I said, the new stereo seems to work fine and be fully functional.

I am going to continue to research and will report back what I discover, but if anyone else has ideas, I'd sure be grateful
THANKS!

James

Hello friends,

I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem that has me vexed.  I have a 2012 R56 Cooper (no S) and this summer I purchased an after market Double-Dine Kenwood stereo.  It came with the new dash piece and I successfully wired the wiring harness and the stereo works fine including the steering wheel buttons.

HOWEVER THE PROBLEM IS THIS....  In reassembling the dash, there are THREE CONNECTORS (see photos) that I can not figure out where they go, or what they are for.  D'oh!  I took photos of the wiring harness connections when I disassembled the dash and I either deleted the pics with these connectors or I missed them.

Can anyone tell me what they are for and where they need to be connected?

I did connect all of the other connectors to test out everything and the AC temp control isn't working/connected - the blower motor works fine.

Any insight would be very much appreciated.

thank you in advance,
James in Cheshire CT
