Thanks Ian.
I had seen the picture on Parnell page 33 (regarding parts color) but due to the angle/lighting/year I did not think that was conclusive enough. This led me to ask the question re: color. Sure would be nice if someone had compiled a list of parts along with color history.
As you can see in the image I have already removed paint from the solenoid mount. My solenoid is mounted vertically rather than angled. No choice. That is way the bolt/screw holes are in the mount.
I did find a reference on Mk1-forum regarding the switch from riveted plates to decals but cutover date was not known. I just found a reference in Parnell page 53 re: rocker cover redesign (Nov 65) - Aluminum engine and patent plates replaced by contact adhesive type.
My washer bottle does not have a Tudor label similar to Parnell page 63. So I guess I will need to research this as well.

Being a Mk I I think you'll find there weren't many decals used. The only obvious one is the (Coopers - refers to the filter manufacturer not the car) label on the air filter case. Some dealers also placed their company stickers (usually on the inner wing) with stock number ..and maybe colour references.
I think the original Tudor labels were actually printed onto the washer bottles rather than using a stick on label...
Apart from that, all the other labels are silk screened alloy plates riveted, screwed or spot welded in place.
Parnell does show a sticky label on the rocker cover of a Mk II but I've only owned Mk Is so can't comment on whether this was original. All the MkIs I'm familiar with have riveted alloy brand and patent plates.... Maybe look at Somerford's web site?
Wrt your other question; look at Parnell page 33. The picture is of a 64 Cooper but I'm pretty sure it is also representative of your 66. You can see the engine colour on the slave cal and the plated edge of the solenoid mount peeking out...
Cheers, Ian

I have a 1966 Austin Cooper S with a July build date.
what are the proper engine compartment decals for this time period.
i did not see any references in the Parnell book.
I have seen decals/plates on the air cleaner, rocker cover and slam panel.
My rocker cover (which I believe to be original) does not have any rivet holes so I
assume decals were used.
