It mounted on the front panel behind the grille, to draw air in, then more of Of that corrugated plastic pipe through inner fender well. I will see if I can find picture but not sure if I have.

Hi Kermy,
As per Bruce's reply, it appears that I have a 1978 Canadian Mini setup.
The challenge is now to find a picture or parts drawing showing how the blower and flexible pipes were run.
Thanks!

That's an interesting lead, Bruce.
I've got a snail-type blower among the bunch of parts originating from several different cars (along with 3 different engines and 2 transmissions).
Can you better illustrate how the blower was mounted on a '78?
The blower mouth brackets don't line up with any holes on the inner fender.
Thanks!
John

The plate screwed to the front is not correct. There should be a hinged flap connected to the control lever by an articulated arm. The flap directs the airflow to the interior or the defrosters. I'm not sure about the motor and impeller but I had a 76 Mini with these inside the heater box. I believe it had twin impellers compared to earlier versions which only had one impeller. The twin impeller units has openings in the left side of the box which is closed in on your box, so I'm not 100% sure what you have there.

Pretty sure that is a heater from a 78 or later Canadian car. In 1976 they had a blower in the heater itself. They also only had one light on the control. In 78 that had the double lights on the control an the blower was a snail style mounted to Inside front Grille and piped back to heater through the wheel well, with a tee piece for the eye ball vent.

Hello all,
I'm putting together an actual 'basket case' that was fully torn apart years ago and abandoned by the PO.
I'm now working on the heater.
I've restored the heater unit (metal case) that only contains the heater matrix but no blower motor and fan.
The heater unit doesn't show any holes or fixings for a blower, has a right side inlet and 2 defrost outlets.
The official BLM service manual doesn't show a similar unit.
The Haynes manual has a mention that Canadian cars may have a remote blower they describe as being attached through the RH inner fender and to the firewall.
Could anyone confirm this and/or attach a picture showing what the blower looks like and where it goes?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
