I have also seen the top Front corner of the big alum rads sit up a bit tall in the opening of the bonnet.  That front corner sometimes even touches the bonnet when closed.  to move it all over the rad will need to go down a bit and out.. all moving your attachement points...

Cutting wheel and grinder will move things out of the way accordingly if your'e dedicated to this project.

you will also want to shroud around the fan to the rest o fthe rad so the WHOLE rad core is maximzed by the fan.

Bear in mind the slats give some measure of protection to the rad from sticks and stones thrown up from the wheel.

A grinder with a metal cutting wheel will short work of that project. Eye and ear protection if you're sticking your head in the wheel well.

I mounted an electric fan to my radiator on engine side as a pusher. The radiator is aluminum & 1" thicker so i am shy about 1/2" fitting it in due to water pump. I know most people put the fan in the wheel well but i want to try this. Has any one ever cut out the slotted inner fender piece
