OK....that's soo interesting....Thanks so much for the information. Where could I find more details of the set up?

Where would that unit be located?

(grin)...I won't worry about it any more...Although being also a ham radio operator, might be of some utility! I also have the 2005 Mini, with the GPS that won't sync. wondering about subbing out some kind of Raspberry Pi update...(dream, dream).

But it does remind me..

back in the 90's when Win95 was all the rage, this was a common joke...

What's the difference between a Computer Salesman and a Auto Salesman?

The Auto Salesman knows when he's lying...

Is that the Sirius unit? Might it have a yellow coax?

Thanks!

here are the multimedia options that were included in the build for your MINI.

Multimedia
S645 BMW US Radio
S6ND Hands-free system Bluetooth
S674 Hi-Fi system Harman Kardon
S653 High Definition Radio
S693 Preparation BMW satellite radio
S6FC Radio MINI Boost CD

Your car had the 'satellite preparation' when it was built which means the antenna and wiring for satellite radio was included in the build, but NOT the satellite radio itself.

If your MINI had satellite radio at one time, someone must have added it, the possibly removed it.

If you provide the last 7-digits of the vin number, I can look up the build sheet to see if sat was included.

I have a black box and a yellow box under the passenger seat ...is this it? The black box says it's a BMW 6 926 435 01, which googles to a Seat Module.

So I guess it's the yellow box, which seems to have a bunch of wires in a harness that go under the floor carpeting.

But operating the radio I don't see any indication of "SAT". In the Mode Menu, I'm just seeing Tuner/CD/AUX/USB. All of those work.

As I understand it, even with it not being "activated", I still should be able to receive something, even if it's an endless loop of why I should subscribe to the bloomin' service.

I've got pics, but I guess I need to upload them to an intermediate site to display them here..

I see two units mounted up under the passenger seat, not much room so can't identify them but each unit seems to be about 2" x 2". Think one is the seat heater..

Is there a hidden doorway? or maybe a "removed component" by the previous owner?

I wonder if someone removed the hardware for the satellite radio?...

So I would choose the tuner, then within the tuner menu ? Not seeing it..series of memory buttons, 1,2,3,4,5,6 FM, AM, SET, SC and LIST (if the radio station is HD or not.)

Is it a plug-in module someplace I can look and see if I have it? I'm actually happy with the USB and AM/FM. but I'm curious!

I take it that even if it's not "activated", I can at least get one channel, do I remember chan 160?

David.
