The market has spoken Al. I thought it might hit $20k but lately Estates especially on BaT do not seem to hit the high numbers like other Mini variants.

Spitz: As l see it, the fact that the  restamped vin plate doesn’t fit on the slam plate is incidental 

I would be more concerned about the ribbed roof on a early estate ?, must be a reshell

I also know this car, saw it many times in Ohio and in Florida, good value for the money, can’t believe it is not pulling more money

I have no skin in the game and also think it is a great build that has held up well for 30 years.

These are just my thoughts and just a guess on my part Mathew but maybe he posted that due to the ribbed roof which I believe was introduced in 65, door handles with a boss (could have be changed or added though) also introduced after 64, wiper motor date painted over/concealed with silver paint.  
None of this matters though it still looks great and comes with a 1293 Cooper S power plant.

I think it will break $20k but that may not be enough as it was for sale here for a while last year for $25k before the current dealer acquired it and based on that I don't think he stole it but you never know with an auction people get silly.

How is the vin wrong for the car....it's been restamped yes.....

Just because the stock market is crashing, classic minis should be stronger

Nice build but considering the vin does not match the shell it would be on my mind.

Having driven this car for many thousands of miles (and autocrossed it), the VIN plate would be the last thing on my mind.

VIN seems wonky, plate poorly re-stamped. 

Could be called the trouble with trolls. Very nice Estate.

I wonder what "I have displayed this site to an essential number of my accomplices." means. What do you call a group of trolls? A "trollop of trolls" might work.
