Thank you for the replies. That wheel took some impact awhile back, seems to have damaged the hub.

+1 It is supposed to be a press fit.

That usually means the hub is bad. It should not drop in.

A friend is installing the front tapered wheel bearings on a 7.5 disc wheel. He says when he places the outer wheel race in, , "the outer bearing race literally drops in...no press fit at all." I this OK? Will things tighten up when the axle nut is tightened?
