Found this on a MINI dealer site:
As of model year 2018, all MINI vehicles will come standard with rear view camera and Rear Park Distance Control

Rear View Camera and Rear Park Distance Control
As of model year 2018, all MINI vehicles will come standard with rear view camera and Rear Park Distance Control. The standard rear view camera comes one year ahead of U.S. regulations that will require all new cars to have one. In addition, the rear PDC enriches the user experience with an audio tone when an object is detected, on-screen guidance lines and red/yellow/green graphics, and for vehicles equipped with excitement package 4V9, corresponding red/yellow/green warning on the Center Instrument LED ring.

It is my understanding that the law requiring backup cameras applies to vehicles built after the first week of May 2018. Perhaps the cars you were looking at were built before May.

Hey all
Quick question. I am looking at a couple 2018 Mini Cooper S Clubman. However, I noticed that neither of the 2 I found have a rear view camera. I saw a couple of articles suggesting that 2018 was when all Mini models had the rear view camera installed as a standard feature.
Is this accurate information? If so, does Mini Retro fit cameras into older models at all? Or is my only option to install my own?
Thank you in advance,
Kris
