Awesome to see you Bill. Glad you are still around. I have often wondered how many of the original group are still with us. I am in the market for a pickup and will start to monitor MM a bit more.

Got my first Mini in 1970 or 71. It was a '61. It was one of 5 brought to the US by Briggs Cunningham for match races that year. I know Denise McCluggage, Sterling Moss, Innes Ireland and others drove some of them. Don't know which or whom. I raced that car in SCCA for a couple of years and got my Comp license in it. I was also a LBC mechanic at the time. Fords, MGs, Austins, Lotuses, etc.
Fast forward to 2005 and I picked up a pristine '72/98 Rover MPI. I drive it about 200-300 miles a year and mostly show it with pretty good success. I keep threatening to sell it but its still there every spring...

Jedduh01: If you think the Dooderwear issue was a big one, you either missed or blocked out of your memory the huge "discussion" about public health care. Record length thread!
Another thread of note was one concerning the use of "rust free" in ads for Minis for sale.
Early on for me was one member "MiniBill" (or similar) who wrote (very well) some long, interesting stories and signed them with "Minibill abides".

Zippy.
NJ.
What ever happened to the big bunny guy? Northern CA.
I took my time to the posting game with learning vs posting..
I do remember or miss stories about Quicksilver / Bill Cox and his early life on the internet.
I also missed the whole Doderwear shebang... that i understand was a big deal.
Internet time has evolved away from direct forum relationships, now with Facebook and Instagram youtube online avenues, there are much faster and easier platforms to 'show' what you do... and be glamorous with your mini life.
Mini Mania Still a useful classic resource if you 'search" first before posting.

My only car is a mini, this daily driver is a fuel injected mini, but I do own many minis. Not saying how many.
At this point in my life, I'm trying to keep my daily driver on the road and building a beach mini. The daily driver is now requiring rust repair. Today, I just welded in a 4 x 6 inch patch and a 3 x 3 inch patch in the left rear wheel well. I don't want to go around the min but it's calling for attention. For the beach mini, everything will be new or refurbished or rebuilt and repainted. I just put on a new front end. For this beach mini, I made custom hoist mounts to lift the beach mini on and off a yacht. It will be similar to the 1960's beach minis but will be more customized, more body work.
Best to all. Jim

I also miss the old days and the old crowd. I sometimes feel like I am the only one posting here.

I do miss seeing a lot of the old gang, and even though we own 2 modern BINIs, they ain't Mini's and
I miss a lot of that banter from years past and must endure (what seems like daily) "one and done" posters
asking about P codes, floor mats and matching stripe options.
Sigh!
...the only thing constant is change.
~ 30 minutes in a Mini is more therapeutic than 3 sessions @ the shrink. ~

1997- to present
Came home from highschool one afternoon driving my basic 71 MGB-Gt and the Mini was my dads shop. It was headed to Carlsile Spring trade show i believe in about 1997. Seller stopped by to visit, my dad made a deal to leave it there.
She was a Non runner. Rusty with the doors falling off. Had red coudoury panels , red shaggy carpet, you could smell the 70's vintage from a block away. 1100 engine. With a wacky marroon, Silver and black paint job.
Over the years got welded / patched, wrecked, upgraded + refinished. i know it hides some secrets. now about 15 years later from the paint job its showing its wear / age.. but thats ok its MY patina! I figure i want to do something new to it ,but cant bring myself to really tear it down and ruin / change what really works.
I'm used to the Early mk1 defrost box = it works as necessary . has some wrattles i just cant figure out but they haven't' killed me yet..
Shes been a good soldier and will continue on = Just got a new set of rubber shoes this week after wore them out at CMU.
20year highschool reunion, and they still asked me if i still have 'those little mini's - Why yes My collection is now up to Four!
