Early eighties ford trucks had a nice retractable under hood light with a mag base as well, kind of a large assembly though. There are an awful lot of “tactical” lights out there now for next to no money.

They never had one from the factory.
I used to own a GMC truck and it had an under hood light that was on a retractable spool with about 10 feet of wire that worked well in roadside situations.
