Does this sound reasonable (The resell of the car itself with a good engine is ~$6,000)

Additional questions:
What kind of warranty should I expect?
Does it need a compression test?
Should I also replace the clutch?

I am checking on whether the engine been rebuilt and its other history.

Thanks
Get the warranty in writing and understand what is covered.  Make sure you can return it if your inspection immediately after receipt of the engine shows any problems.

Check:
compression / leak down
borescope inside the cylinders
remove valve cover and make sure there is no sludge buildup
visual inspection of cam lobes for wear

Unfortunately, unless you perform a full teardown of the engine, there is no way to know the condition of the bottom end...

Good luck!

No it is not reasonable you can get a better price than that.
If you can't cut your losses and sell it as is.
