I don't think you can do this.... but its not hard to check the possibility.
Loosen the bolt that clamps the column onto the support bracket at the front of the lower dash rail. Remove the bolt at the bottom of the column (that clamps the column onto the steering rack pinion). Undo the multipin connector that connects the steering column wiring loom (indicators and horn) to the main loom.
Tap (rubber hammer on the back of the steering wheel hub) the column upwards. This will release the column from the rack pinion.
Now, have a look at the rack pinion. It will have splines to locate the column and a small slot/cut out that the locking bolt goes through. This prevents the column from becoming detached from the pinion. .... and aligns the column with the pinion/rack.
So, the column can only be attached to the pinion one way up....
(Some???) early cars had a groove around the pinion for the bolt to ride in. .. instead of the slot. This stopped the column from becoming detached from the pinion ..but... if the joint became loose and the splines were worn, the column could turn without turning the pinion... shock/horror - instant loss of directional control....
I suppose you could cut another slot in the pinion that would allow the column to be rotated 180deg. Unfortunately I don't this would be possible without removing and dismantling the rack.....
Cheers, Ian

Morris MK1 850. The car was converted to LHD before I got it. Doesn't matter to me but what is driving me nuts is that the turn signal stalk is on the right hand side of the column. I would like to just flip the column 180 so the stalk is on the side expected. Looks like the whole outer column must be flipped as there is a welded bracket for the plastic cowling the must make the journey too. Since I don't see LHD or RHD columns I am assuming if I loosen enough bolts I can make it happen. The question is how many and where? It is not worth it if I have to go too far and be messing with the rack underneath. I'll just live with it. Also it is steering just fine now but is there anything I should service while I am wandering down this path. I will be trying to make the center horn button live again and painting the wheel as part of this.
