I got the body mounted this weekend. I have 13" rims for it and just need to get tires and I can swap out from the 14's on it now (way to big). I also began to fit and mount the roll cage this weekend. I'm going to have clearance issues with the strut towers so I'm going to shorten them and run coilovers. I've been thinking about arches and sideskirts to cover the box section but will come up with a plan once the body is fully attached. I also have to order a some panels from our host here for the window corners and boot.

It's been a fun project so far. I've created an instagram account to keep track of some projects @mo_show_garage

Approximate 9” difference so 4.5” per side which isn't far off from a sports pack.

I enjoy the figuring it out part so once I get the body mounted perfect it will dictate the flares. It seems the hardest part is finding a clubman grille!

The track width of the Toyota is almost 10 inches wider than the Mini. How do you plan on dealing with that?

Update:

I acquired a 2001 Toyota Echo in mid April for a cool $425 delivered. Car had a half broken drivers side headlight and small dent on hood. 165,000kms and little rust. Runs good with no dash lights on.

I'm three weeks into the project, working on it when I find time, and have sectioned the body 13"s so that it has the exact wheelbase of the mini. boxed the sills with 5x2 1/8th wall square tubing. The cage will tie into this also. braced the body and strut towers, and cut the front rad support out so that the front end can fit into position.

I picked up a set of 13" steel wheels form a bmw e21 and thanks to Big Al have a good lead on tires.

I'm picking the shell up from my parents garage this weekend and can begin to fit it into position over the next few weeks.

Last mini I put new floors/boot floor/sills/a-panels/windscreen corners/etc took me 40hrs of cutting, welding, and grinding to get the body to primer. We will be finishing that one also back to stock/near stock, however looking for something different and a new challenge.

Giving it some more thought I'm better to find something that has a similar wheel base width as sectioning the length would prove easier.

If the body is in good enough shape to weld it to a whole different floor pan, then it's good enough to weld in a new Mini floor pan. You're just looking at a whole world of problems.

I have a 77 mini that's in rough shape (most classic mini owners would scrap it) and I am in search of a donor.

I believe the wheelbase on the mini is approximately 2036mm and width of 1,410mm, and I'm wondering what is comparable to this on a 1990+ car.

I had a 91 Suzuki swift (wheelbase 2,365mm / width 1,585mm)4 cylinder manual as a donor but moved and had to send it to the scrap yard. I want to basically cut the top half off the donor and add my top half / mini shell onto it. Shouldn't be to hard but I'd prefer to find a donor that I wont have to section the floor to fit, but I will if I have to. I want to keep the mini proportions and I'm not interested in extended fronts or bodies.

I like the Yaris RS (wheelbase 2,550mm / width 1,660mm); has anyone mated one with a mini?

I've been away from the mini world for about 7 years now so any links, comments, cool projects that are relatable; please share.

Jeffrey
