My thought was that perhaps the 'missing post' on the new alternator is a ground wire and that they eliminated it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

The 2009 MINI Cooper came with either a 120 amp or 150 amp alternator, perhaps your supplier sold you the wrong one? You may be able to tell the difference from the diagrams on our product page here - although the diagrams are not always 100% accurate.

You should be able to get a direct replacement, they gave you the wrong one, go back or to another store
