I am having charging issues with my 2009 mini cooper hatchback. Before starting the car, the voltage at the battery is 12.7 v. Once the engine is running it drops to 12.5 v and continues to drop.
Pulled the alternator. The connector has two wires in it, and the alternator itself has two posts for those wires. The new alternator has the same hole alignments for mounting, and the same connector. The issue is the new alternator itself only has one post for one of the two wires.
My thought was that perhaps the 'missing post' on the new alternator is a ground wire and that they eliminated it.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
Dave
