I didn't say I was going to do it, but if one needed a lot of work, or was already pretty modified, then I would. This one is for my other half, and she wants a reliable one. So if I find a pickup that is nice, well put together, good engined, then we are fine. I will save the power for my other cars. We already have a fast mini and have owned lots of fun cars (we autocross/track together), i.e. a Caterham, 300+hp lotus elise, etc...

...so this is another one, but for daily driving.  If I find one like McGees, for example, then that is one I would likely not touch! Further, if I do anything to my cars, I always engineer it to be undone for a future owner.

If you're going to toss the front and rear subframes and the powertrain, and you have a large budget, why not get our hosts' fiberglass pickup shell and build it up from there? Most people who go to the extent of a VTEC conversion will do a custom interior, seats, etc. so why not just build it from one of these shells?

Also saves an original pickup which are relatively rare. https://www.minimania.com/part/ABSMS048/Classic-Austin-Mini-Pick-up-Body-Shell-Kit-Fiberglass

I am in CA, so 67 or older probably best, or one registered here ... or one that could be either way with whatever that needs!

It doesn't have to be fully restored, but decent body/paint would be great as I will just be doing a honda conversion/rear subframe replacement on day 1.

I have a pretty large budget.
