You should check out meetthespeakers kits and builds. He really payed attention to all the other kits on the market and designed a kit that doesnt have the flaws of the other kits. (Wider front wheel base, extended nose, etc)

Whatever you do,do NOT listen to the other a**hole in here.Hes just unhappy with life i feel and wants everyone else to be miserable and unhappy as well lol a PROPERLY done conversion will leave ypu with 0 regrets of ever getting rid of that original *powerplant* to say it nicely.

What im saying is,i came on this forum looking for info and had a bunch of idiots jump down my throat and i almost listened and thought it was a poor choice at first but then realized how stupid they sounded and knew right away they were just purists that have their panties in a bunch. If they are happy with their 30hp gokarts so be it,but dont go trying to scare others off who want more out of their cars.Build it for yourself and what you want.

All i'm saying is to each there own. I did my first honda swap over a decade ago. Ever since it's always been chasing that itch, there is nothing like a good clean conversion. I had a nice 1098 in my estate for years, finally had enough and put a MR2 supercharger on it. Better, but still lacking. Had everything from 1380 with jack night 5 speed with specialist components fuel injection. Some people aren't content with a 998. Drove one 4 days last week and on a 5 hour rally. Got the job done, still doesn't compare. Every one has different wants and needs. I've sold over 30 kits the past 2 years, and I'm building 5 right now, and 4 more this fall. Stock suspension, no extended front, no relocating steering rack on rhd cars. 150hp out of the box. A lot of people would probably be disgusted with my Morris Minor and it's v6 Camaro power plant. It's fun. Stock is boring to me. Life is too short.

VTEC conversions are fine, but pickups are rare and getting rarer. They're much more valuable than the vast majority of Mini models and as soon as it's radically altered, there goes the value. A very well done VTEC conversion might get back the price of a professional conversion, not counting the cost of the pickup.

It's like the guys who stick pushrod V8 engines into Jag E-types - they can talk about more and cheaper power, reliability, etc. but the resale value of the "lumped" E-type just got flushed down the toilet.

The only way I'd do this to a real pickup is if the pickup was a salvage basket case that was going to get junked anyway, and I wanted to rebuild it even though it isn't cost effective.

Otherwise I'd get the Mini pickup shell I originally pointed out in this thread and build that up with all the custom stuff I want. The end product might even be worth more (not counting labor) than I put into it.

Do NOT listen to ANYTHING negative that the purists have to say.If a vtec swapped car is what you have in mind, you will never be happy with the original mini motor. Its the BEST thing ive ever done to my car aside from turboing the same motor lol It is better in EVER WAY POSSIBLE when done right. Hp,reliable, highway cruising, everything is better.I used a resonator and a dynomax super turbo for NA ,then switched to a dynomax ultra flow when i did the turbo.

Bakkie is still available. 64 knock down kit, registered 77. Not sure if there is anyway to correct year on it to get it into California with a Heritage certificate, etc.

It doesn't have to be fully restored, but decent body/paint would be great as I will just be doing a honda conversion/rear subframe replacement on day 1.

I have a pretty large budget.

There is a 76 for sale in the classifieds here, not a 67 but they don't come up for sale often.

What is your budget for a CA friendly Pick up?
