Are you speaking of the jet on a HS carb?
That is not the idle it is the mixture adjustment.

Thanks  malsal I’ll work on that.

Someone else suggested tuning it up because the last thing I screwed with was the idle on the carburetor. I thought that I readjusted that but it sounded good.  Sorry I can’t read my posts on the phone either sideways or vertically.

Could be electrical. Have you got a tachometer if so is the needle bouncing around when it happens?
Also years ago i worked on a Mini that had a similar issue and the positive cable from the battery was touching on the exhaust system and grounding out, check the ground wires on the engine while you are at it.
Points or electronic distributor, if points the condenser could be going bad.
Mechanical or electrical fuel pump, check the fuel pump pressure you need 2.5lbs minimum with carbs.

Well it wasn’t either of those. I change the fuel filter and yes there was a piece of filter paper floating around in the fuel filter. Then of course I had to adjust the idle because I change that the other day. I have a hit 44. I’ve adjusted the idle from fall closed then back open one and a half turns. Still doing it any ideas??

It might be dirt in the carb fuel bowl, especially if you have a HS type carb. The dirt gets into the tube to the jet and when you turn around it gets swished aside until you park the car and it settles again. A failed fuel pump generally stays failed. Low carb oil wouldn't fix itself until you actually replenished the oil.

When I needed to refill my carb oil I had the exact  same symptoms. Really made it a bucking bronco. Easy fix.

I took the mini out last night. After about a block it started shuttering. By chattering a man that I was moving back-and-forth in the seat because every time I stepped on the gas it was cutting out. I turned the car around and went back home and all the sudden it was working correctly so I went on a long ride. I came home for a minute and left again and the car started shuttering real hard again. I flipped a U-turn real hard and it stopped doing it and started running correctly. I took it out again with no problems but I’m thinking that maybe I need a new fuel filter or a new fuel pump. Any ideas??
