I have opened several of this type master and not felt like I could kit them due to rust pits after honing with a proper hone. I did make a fixture and a long bar and rebuilt the booster. Twisting them back together is a trip.

CTR-ALEX, has provided daily transportation for the last 176,000 miles. First gear synchro is poor second not far behind. As soon as the Dodge pickup, AC system, suspension and brakes are done the mini will get a long over due rest. Steve (CTR)

I have seen the two seals leak under the plastic reservoir between the reservoir and the metal master cylinder itself.

I rebuilt a Knightsbridge MC for a friend last year - no wet inside the servo but the fluid was all gone.

Seal kit and all was well, and it's not too bad a job.

All gone and checking at each wheel showed no leaks. This is a master/booster combo that mounts on the wrong side of the car and has a torque tube to cross over. I believe the seal for the rear brakes fails and the booster sucks all the fluid out of master and feeds it to the engine. Anyone ellse have this issue? Steve (CTR)

PS I still made the DMV needing the truck plates even more with mini repair to deal with.
Loosen up the master cylinder and feel inside the servo, the bellows usually have brake fluid in them.

Just replaced my green tag for the same reason, they puke into the servo, ruin the servo and then requiring complete replacement.

Well Steve did you notice any white smoke coming out of the exhaust? When the servo fails on the Cooper 'S (remote servo not like you have) it can suck brake fluid into the engine.
