Why didn't you press it out?

I would be careful it would not take much to break the aluminum mount off the casing then you are in for a load of work pulling the engine and gearbox.
Try pressing it out it is a lot more controllable than hitting it with a punch/drift and a hammer.

I leave the outer steel sleeve and drill the rubber remains out.
Then I turn a new bush from HDPE. Unlike the rubber bush, A series oil doesn't rot it.

I worked on one Mini where they used a piece of hose around the bolt to take up the slack, looked like a side of the road repair that had been on there for a while.

I'm going out on a limb here. My first meeting with a rod change tranny the outer sleeve was there but the guts were gone. I used a 1/4 inch punch rounded tip shaped like half a ball. Coming from the rear of the car I drove the sleeve side into it's self being careful to drive straight in. Once it began to fold into it's self tap out from the side. I have since found a tiny socket a larger socket and a bolt to remove them correctly. I keep a hand full of spares and replace each job. Steve (CTR)

Showing my ignorance....
Where does that one go?  Is that the anchor point for the forward facing steady on later cars?

11mm 1/4" drive Craftsman socket iirc to press it out.  You'll probably have to heat the casing too.  I did a tech article on it about 18 months ago.

Hammers are likely to break things.

I have removed a couple before with drifts and chisels but it is not the best way and can break the casting surrounding it.
Next time i will use a nut and bolt with suitable spacers and washers and tighten the nut up until it forces the locating tube out enough to get a grip on it with some vice grips.
A little heat on the cast aluminum may help as it expands quicker than the steel collar but remember it is fragile.
