I run stub stacks under K&N pancake filters on twin SUs. Like everyone has said, I have no idea what, if any effect they have. I hope you're planning on using an air cleaner. I'm always surprised when folks run stacks w/o filters on the street. Dedicated racers can get away with it; their engines get rebuilt every 10-12 hours. The rest of us would like to get a few more miles out of our motors.

I run the MED ITG mesh filter and their stub stack on a HIF44. Will installation of one of these make a singular impact that you will feel in the seat of your pants? Probably not but its part of a package of little steps, intake, exhaust, cam, etc., that will help increase performance. I like it enough that I'm on the second one-the first one lasted 15 years before the foam started to deteriorate.

I run the MED stub with an ITG filter (A+ 1293 HIF44). My car runs well but as Spank says can't say if it's better with or without.

Yes, I have one on one of my engine setups. "stub stack" that fits inside of a K&N Cone filter.
Dyno operator who set up the timing/fueling said they definitely help, but I can't offer you any empirical evidence of with or without.
Engine was dyno'd at 89.-something at the wheels 1275 +.060 ~10:1 compression, mild ported head, single hif carb, SPVP3 (same as Kent 286SP) minispares intake, maniflow lcb, single box RC40 side exit exhaust.

Anyone run a short stack on their SU HI44? Or anyone have any feedback of thoughts with running with a short stack?
Thanks
