Or find out which wire powers the side lights or head lights or any switched powered wire for that matter and join a wire into that circuit.

I don't have access to the R60 Countryman, but you should be able to find a rubber grommet in the fire wall on the drivers side where you can pass thru the wire for your new lights.... You may have to look in the cowl / apron area at the base of the windshield (where the wiper motors are located).
