Estates, vans and pickups do not have a boot, so have their batteries elsewhere, but then they also have a different type of fuel tank.

Thanks Dan that's exactly where mine exits with the muffler near the back.
I had a recent problem that I'll fix this week. My header pipe comes down as two pipes, then into a twin collector and a single exhaust pipe. The twin collector is not holding tight and has rattled loose where at idle I can hear it rattling. I have two hangers in back on either side of the muffler, both rubber. I'm going to get a clamp to replace the one in front of the muffler and make it solid. Then when my 4 post lift is free I'll modify the two clamps at the collector to secure the connection.

The best solution that you should do is to provide noise protection for cars. Soundproofing noise insulation at important locations of vehicles such as: Car ceiling, 4 car doors, noise-proof floor lining, tire box ... Noise is mainly caused by external impacts. Therefore, if the soundproofing of the car's sound insulation will reduce the noise level, it will also protect the interior. You can paste noise with the most specialized materials.

If you get rid of the exhaust manifold be aware that the intake also goes with it. You will need an intake manifold also if you install headers.

$US54 from the UK .... you might be surprised at the relative shipping rates.....
If checking your local AutoZone etc, ask what they have for a Sprite/Midget/MG.....
Cheers, Ian

Everyone will have their preference. I am sure you could find some generic mufflers locally also. However, if you are planning on installing the exhaust yourself it will be hard to beat the $160 price of the two box RC-40 system from our host. Depending on what engine and header or exhaust manifold you have, a couple of other transition pipes may be needed.

Just wondering what types of mufflers you guys are using. Is it possible to use an 'off the shelf' muffler from autozone ect. Though im not sure what other cars use 1.5" or 1.75" exhaust Id like a pretty quiet exhaust as i dont race or have a lead foot. I was thinking about getting a header for a very small bump in power but to also eliminate the manifold/downpipe joint.
