Hey BC, I was expecting a witty quip to my posting, instead you deleted all yours.  Did I hit a nerve?

I've only been involved with minis for 33 years, but then I'm not as old as dirt.

No sale RNM on the Fiesta yellow S at $27,500.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Having a poorly made vin plate is questionable and would require further checking to verify the number is correct for the vehicle.  Installing a proper factory made vin plate from 1973 on a 998ccc mini "Advantage" special edition and selling it to a customer in So. California about 20 years ago (I rebuilt the trans for it) would be bogus.  Pot, may I introduce you to Kettle?

I have no connection to BaT "S" or ML.

Not taking sides, but Bill (thewerewolf) has more experience in dealing Minis than at least 90% of the people here. He also has a short fuse!
He keeps a close eye on all Mini (and derivative) sales, knows the market and where its quirks are. He is also very well versed on the methods and risks of registering vehicles in most US jurisdictions, as well as import and export.
I expect nobody has rushed to his defense because we know he knows what he is talking about... and he can defend himself.
It is also his business, not just a hobby for him.

ML = Michael Lewis. Bill and he go a long way back as "competitors". If you really want to know search the forum archives for ML, Michael Lewis etc. If you'd been around here long enough you would have known that.

Do you know how many illegal imported mk3 & 4 are in California that has 1960s vin tags that aren’t seized by law enforcement? You think they’ll waste their time and go after this one knowing it is a screaming 1965 Cooper S? This car has a front end damage which the seller declared so that’s up to the bidders.

Get out of your cave old man. Quit hating, bashing and hijacking a decent auction. You know you can get sued for this? I’d be careful if I were you. Later bc

Werewolf, are you a bidder? I don’t see why you’re so butt hurt since #1 you’re not bidding and #2 the seller’s been honest about it all and #3 Bring a trailer allowed the car to be in the auction so what’s the problem? Everything has been declared and the choice to bid is for the bidder.

US
the engine ID tag is also top stamped, not original but that could be a replacement by a machine shop who tanked the engine and melted the old tag.

Not sure if it's a bogus car but the vin tag is not genuine.
