Ok, I guess it doesn't make much difference.  It's still a Mini.  I registered it as a classic so it never needs to see the DMV again nor registration.

As pologround says, your 92 would be a "Rover"... At one stage "Mini" was brand on its own ..replacing the Austin/Morris badging...  By 86 though they were Rovers... by the time BMW came along the Mini was unfortunately gone...

Its bit like asking whether your Corvette is made by Chevrolet or GM??

In the early 50s Morris and Austin combined to become BMC - which was technically part of the Nuffield Group..  Austin and Morris had their own plants which turned out cars badged accordingly.... Except, some cars (Coopers specifically ) built at Longbridge (the home of Austin) came with Morris badges....

Of course Rover used to be its own brand until absorbed into British Leyland ... or was it Leyland Motors?  ... along with BMC which had become BMH a while before... Leyland moved on to become JRA (Jaguar Austin Rover) and then Austin Rover ..and "finally" Rover.  Or maybe not...these days I think its Jaguar Land Rover ????

It depends.....

Cheers, Ian

your '93 mini is really a 'rover group' mini. Austin (bmc) was from '59-'68, and british Leyland took a spin at it from '68-'86. I stand corrected...
