Before you weld it make sure the door is re fitted (with shims if it had them) and the gap is correct.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

yes , you are right. there is more rust  than I expected. I did replace the outer rocker panels about five years ago.

The rocker seam will transition to the A-panel, and typically has a small weld. I don't recall if there is an overlap of the a-panel on the rocker seam, or if it is a butt joint.

Also, be sure to clean off any waxoyl in the vicinity of any welding, that stuff is flammable!

It's been a while since I have done one, but if memory serves... If you cut the weld at the top of the a panel, then cut the panel along the wing seam. (Keep the seam on the wing if you plan on re-using the wing) The trailing edge of the a-panel is folded around the a-post and typically can be pried off. There will be a small weld at the bottom that becomes evident once the rest of the a-panel is loose. cut that with a cutting wheel and away you go.

Once the a-panel is off, it will more than likely reveal rusted out substructure, before you know it, the car will be on a rotisserie... :P

How do you do it. This is for a 92 mini. I see a small tack weld up top where it is the smallest. Where is the weld at the bottom? Doors come off, then what?
