At our house, my Dad saw the girl next door taking her little dog for a walk, The dog peed at the side of the road. Next time Dad looked out, the ditch was full of water... he said the poor dog must have needed to go out very badly. The water main was fixed in a few hours.

"Hang on a minute lads....I've got a great idea."

Kind of along the same lines...
There is a leak in the water main line on the street side of the water line coming to my house. So the water is coming up out of the ground and filling up the ditch.
I called the water company on Wednesday and they sent someone out while I was at work. I saw the guy come out and look at it twice and then leave on my security cameras.
When I got home on Friday, nothing had been fixed. I called the water company and asked them what the status was.
They told me that the repair guy said that there was too much water in the ditch and that they would come back on Monday to see if the water level was down enough to work on it. SMH

Where I work now, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.
The consequences of not asking the 'dumb' question are sizeable...

I remember starting a new job, and the person who was training me told me.

"There are no dumb questions, only dumb people."

Needless to say I got the hint and didn't ask too many questions.
