My mini won't start when sitting in sun

Have you had any water intrusion into the cab or driven thru flooded streets recently? I'm thinking an intermittent ground somewhere..
If you have a manual transmission, you might check the clutch switch that detects you have the clutch depressed before it would let you start the car. - not sure how this could be intermittent, but worth a check so you can eliminate it as a cause. If this is the problem, the engine won't turn over...

No, haven't run thru any puddles. Someone mentioned a relay right behind the steering under the hood. I'm going to give that a try. Thanks for the reply.

I've heard of some Hondas having that problem, something about a relay or switch being mounted up behind the dash where it soaks up the sun. Never heard about MINIs having that issue. Have you checked with BMW to see if there are any technical service bulletins on that problem?

my 2010 mini Cooper starts right up in the morning or late afternoon. But if it is sitting in the sun mid-afternoon it won't start. Can anyone tell me if there's something that can be done?
