I agree with the suggestions made.

The choke cable bracket you have appears to be made to be anchored by the dashpot screws... possibly from a different style SU carb. Some other SUs have a tang cast onto them which could serve as a choke cable anchor point, probably for a non-MIni application.

You have not got the correct abutment bracket to hold the cables.

What you need is one of these and the associated clip to hold the choke cable in place.

Ignore the fuel filter, I've already tucked it back into it's mount.

I believe the mount and guide is bent out of shape which is not allowing the choke to function properly.  i'm referring to the mount that fits to the carburetor and is above the trunnion
