Generally speaking, you 'can' re-use the flywheel as long as it is not damaged / worn excessively.  Our trusted local MINI shop 'usually' replaces the flywheel every other clutch service, unless it is damaged or has unusual wear.

ooh... the cooper S uses the Dual Mass Flywheel.  That alone is $600-$800. The clutch kit isn't so bad, $250-$500 for the PP, CD, TOB in a box.  Labor is what kills.  I just replaced the clutch in my Non-Turbo R56.  Because I was repairing several other things, it took me 2 days.  I can see a full day of labor for just the clutch.     Shop eBay and Amazon.  do the work yourself if you are capable and you might get under the $800 mark.  Get a Bently Hardcover manual.  Take your time and don't rush disconnecting the plastic parts.  I have pictures of how far you need to tear it down to get the trans out.  With a floor jack and a Trans jack, you don't need to drop the subframe.  Saved me many hours of work... 

Cooper S.  Just the clutch kit.  Upgrade if its better than OEM.

When you say $800, I presume you are talking about the cost of the part without labor?

Are you looking for a simple replacement clutch or are you looking for an upgrade?

I have a 2009 R56.  Can someone give me a suggestion under $800.
