Thanks, Ken. That was very helpful. I found a vin decoder and will be running both their numbers through, just to see what they started as and where they have been altered.
The 06, it seems, has both the chrono and the navigation system options. The nav screen lights up, but doesn't do anything. So I'm strongly considering swapping it out for the Chrono.
Thanks again! Happy motiring

We'll, yesterday we bought our second mini. An 06 Cooper S hatchback... Less than 3 weeks from the date of purchasing our first Coop.. lol

So please forgive the deluge of questions in the future.

My start off question pertains to the dashboards. The difference between the 09 and 06 is day and night. I originally chalked it up to year/models. But have since noticed that not all 06 dashes are created equal. Next I thought, " mmm, customizing?" But there's differences between the stock dashes are all over the place.
Could someone please explain this to me before I loose sleep. Lol

I hope to learn as much as I can from all y'all.
Thanks!
Judi
Hi Judi, your 09 clubman is a 2nd generation MINI and the 06 hatchback is the 1st generation MINI, so there are definite changes to the dash.

Depending on the options on the car, the speedometer is different.  If navigation is added, the speedo has a screen for the nav, where the non-nav models don't have this.

On the gen1 car, there was a 'sports chrono' option that had some additional gauges in the center display and both the speedo and tach were located on the steering column.

So, yes there were some differences - mainly dependent on the options on the car....
