Thanks for good wishes, all - we sure can use them!   Yeah, the Cape Fear River - the largest - crested last night at the highest point ever and by now some areas are draining out a bit. At least it should be dry for 2-3 more days which will help a lot. We don't have much to go to outside our community as everything as everything is cut off! Including Wilmington. Most roads are now open in our area, but two of the main ones are still washed out and with the high fast running water time waiting is necessary before making a solid repair.
We are pretty much all cleaned up with five trees staked up and two cut up out by the curb for pick-up. Furniture back on the porch with all those plants and the patio furniture back in place. Now I can put that new trany in the bugeye and drive around - not too far, but so it is.
Thousands out of their homes with water all over - will go get involved in helping soon.  Everyone stay safe!

I'm ok - I'm safe - and so is the Moke and all our cars!  Dam big blow and a hell of a lot of rain. More to come and cresting of major rivers due on this Weds - 2 days...….. many people in trouble - we lost power for 2 days or so, but just got a generator and plugged in the fridge/freezer and the wine cooler. So, we had lights - gas stove - solar power hot water - wine and plenty of booze too! I was crazy be we survived - most in our neighborhood evacuated but we stayed as well as two other couples near by and more in the community.  We were really smashed - but mostly tree damage. Now flooding has washed away many roads and large trees down at the main entrance to our area - St James - in Southport.  The eye passed right over us so we were dam lucky not to have been ripped to shreds. Glad to be alive - now cleaning up and finishing that wine!  Best to all!

Just checked on Facebook, he is marked as safe and appears to have no power at times.

Peter ... let us know how you are dealing with Hurricane Florence and that you are out of harms way.

(Peter lives in Southport, NC, right on the coast and pretty darn close to where this storm made landfall this morning)
