I like the Miata seats, some have speakers in the headrests - I’ve also been hoarding a set of 914 seats (lightweight & low-profile). Anyone have any thoughts n pics on 914 seats?

I like my Miata ones. Fixed headrest so you have to tilt the backs forward, then the seat if you need to get into the back, otherwise they hit the windshield. But does anyone really need the back seat anyway? Mine are leather ones died to match the interior. I got them for 85 bucks each from Flyin Miata, but that's been a few years. My wife had a 1981 Prelude that had really nice cloth seats, and I'm pretty sure they would have worked.

Im guessing maybe 3" of head and leg room? Im 6'6" and my head barely touches the head liner. Im think of putting in a tilt column for a more relaxed seating position

I am 6' 4" and I have seat extenders and MALSAL adjusted my steering wheel so that I could slide in and out without any problems. Put some seat extenders on the passenger side and my wife who is 5' 7" thought she was sitting in the backseat. I have the driver 's seat extended as far as it can go, rubbing against the back bins.

You may want to look at my thread nice mini for sale. The Summit Racing seats recline, flip forward and are big and comfy. I could take pictures of the custom rails I made. At $200. each new in three colors they worked for the customer 6/3 6/4. Steve (CTR)

Another option: Honda CRX/Civic seats. The CRX Si seats I used have bigger/high bolsters, while still featuring a narrow profile/overall width that clears the rear bins. Lastly, consider 3rd gen Honda Prelude seats - these were fantastic as they had built in lumbar adjustment and even better bolstering.

Two of my friends are 6'7" and 6'8" (brothers) and both use standard Mini seats with no extenders. Oli's car is an MPi too with the big leather seats - which I can't cope with due to my head being in the roof lining despite being nearly a foot shorter.

What is the going rate for a set of Miata seats?
Is there a certain year that works in a classic MINI better than another, or are all Miata seats the same mounting etc?
I'd love to find a set to fit in my 89 MINI...they are super uncomfortable. My MkI seats are better !

I just installed a pair of 1992 Miata seats in my Mk3. Not as much lateral support as my Mini Mayfair seats, but much more comfortable. I bent up a set of front brackets that position the seat rails just over the top of the cross-member and attach to the original seat bracket fastener holes. The rear seat mounts are to welded up brackets that I made from 1 1/4 inch steel angle and bolted to the floor. They sit the rear seat mounts up 3 inches from the floor. Seat angle is about right, but I'm sitting higher than I did with the worn out Mayfair seats. My back will be much better on long runs!
Oh, and I'm 6-1 also.

I mounted my Miata seats behind the cross member, and directly to the floor without subframes or slide mechanisms. This gives a very low seating position with more front leg room than any other Mini I've ever sat in. Rear leg room is non-existant, which is no issue for me.

If your 92 Mini is fitted with the later "lazy boy" big Rover seats the extensions do not work due to hitting the rear bins, you can cut down the rear bins about 2 inches for clearance.
The best factory seat set up for tall Mini owners are Miata seats imo.

Hey everybody. I will be picking up my first mini(92) in a few weeks and im looking for some input.
Im 6'6" and im wondering what seats (new/used or aftermarket) work best for tall people. Im not too worried about access to the back seat. I would like some that sit low.
Can you guys please post pics and info on your seats?
