Some of the early Gen2 MINIs (2007-2010) had some issues with the timing chain and high pressure fuel pump but most were sorted out by 2011.  2016 is the last year for the Gen2 R60 Countryman and they've had most of the 'issues' sorted out by then.

We find these MINIs seem to have better long term reliability when they are maintained properly and had the oil changed frequently (more often than factory recommendations).

Since the MINI is designed by BMW, you can expect repair and parts prices similar to other BMW models.

As with any used car, we recommend a thorough pre-purchase inspection by a qualified shop with MINI experience - this 'should' reduce the risk...
