MINI used the cvt type transmission only with the Cooper non-S models from 2002-2006 hardtops and 2005-2008 convertibles. 

All models after those dates use the 'traditional' automatic transmission. 

DSG type 'dual clutch' transmission option is available on non-USA MINIs starting with the 2018 F60 Countryman and 2018 F54 Clubman.  Not sure when these will be available in the US.
