Really strange coincidence but the reason for the bad shifting and later limp mode was the failure of Cyl #1 ignition coil.
Murphy will get you every time. I went from thinking I had ruined my transmission one day to only replacing a coil pack the next day.
Thanks,
Victor

I have a 2007 Mini Cooper S (Turbo ) and on the transmission pan is this sticker:
"use only BMW part number 83 22 7 567 613" for the fluid.
The Bentley SM says to use Part Number 83 22 0 402 413 or JWS-3309 ATF.
So I'm a bit confused.
I filled with Castrol Transmax full synthetic which is a JWS-3309 fluid.
Drive the car a few miles started shifting strangly, threw a code and went into limp mode.
So what fluid should I use?
Thanks,
Victor
